    Rare chance for badger lovers!

Nature lovers have the rare chance to see badgers at first hand at a special free wildlife event next month.
A Wildlife Workshop and Badger Watch will be held on Thursday 17 September, from 6.15pm, at Horton Kirby Environment Centre.
Participants will be able to tour the grounds at the Environment Centre, find out about badgers and see them live on a big screen via a webcam link to the badger set at the rear of the Centre.
Pre-booking for this event is essential.
Places for this rare opportunity are strictly limited and need to be booked on a first come, first served basis.
This is part of a series of initiatives which build on the programme of successful wildlife events organised by Sevenoaks District Council during 2008.
It supports the Council’s aims to maintain and improve access to the
countryside and conserve the natural and built heritage by giving advice and information on supporting wildlife throughout the year.
Cllr Avril Hunter, Sevenoaks District Council member with responsibility for sustainable development, says: "Badgers are notoriously shy creatures, so an opportunity like this, to see one in its natural setting, is very rare indeed. The fact it is free is even better, but does mean this event is
likely to be very popular so remember to book your place in advance."

The event is being run in partnership with Horton Kirby Environment Centre, which is owned and run by Kent County Council.
The main aim of the centre is to support teachers of all key stages in delivering the National Curriculum, particularly science, geography and history, through providing pupils with practical experience of the natural and built environment around Horton Kirby and the nearby Darent Valley.
For further information and to book onto the Wildlife Workshop and Badger Watch event, please contact Simon Davies at Sevenoaks District Council by calling 01732 227374 or e-mail sus.dev@sevenoaks.gov.uk.
