  1. Feed your passion for planning and help shape the future of Sevenoaks!

We have a strong emphasis on development and training within the planning team at Sevenoaks. We focus on innovation and with us, we’ll support you to develop your career.

You’ll have the opportunity to work on a variety of evidence-based projects, organising community engagement and drafting policy. A key element of this is our Local Plan which you’ll play a key role in. You’ll be involved in the whole process from preparing the plan by developing evidence and drafting policy to engaging with stakeholders and analysing options.

If you have a background in planning, then you’ll know that it takes an organised approach and a commitment to accuracy and balancing deadlines.

The Sevenoaks District faces many diverse urban/rural issues, and you’ll have the opportunity to be a part of this. For example, you can help develop policy in relation to the Council’s commitment to tackle climate change, organise consultation with hard to reach groups and prepare development briefs for key sites. Development pressures are the highest they’ve ever been and a key challenge for planners is to balance the District’s housing and economic needs with the protection of the Green Belt.

So, if you share our enthusiasm for development and innovation, then we would love to hear from you!

This role will be based at our Council Offices, Argyle Road, Sevenoaks Kent TN13 1HG. We currently operate a hybrid working model for the majority of our roles where your working time will be divided between the office (2-3 days) and home working (2-3 days).

Do you want to know more about the role?

Please contact Hannah Gooden, Planning Policy Team Leader, on 017322 22700 for an informal discussion about the role.

Do you want to ensure you have the best chance of being shortlisted?

Read the Job Description and Personal Specification attached to the role and ensure that your supporting statement explains how you meet the essential requirements as your application will be judged against these criteria.
