This new support group is for parents and carers of young adults aged 18-24 who self-harm, or are at risk of self-harming or suicide, in the Tunbridge Wells area.

The six-week programme will provide the opportunity to connect with others who may be experiencing similar challenges in supporting young adults and share lived experience. There will be specific training around understanding self-harm and suicide and you will learn skills and tools for holding difficult conversations. You will also develop a tool kit of self-care and resilience for supporting young adults at risk.

Each session will last for 1.5 hours, once a week over 6 weeks and numbers will be limited to ensure a safe and supportive environment. Choose to join an online, or face to face programme.

    • 6 week programme online via Zoom: Tuesdays 10am-11.30am. Begins Tuesday 7 February.
    • 6 week programme face to face: Thursdays 6pm-7.30pm, The Amelia, Tunbridge Wells. Begins Thursday 26 January.

Each session will be supported by two West Kent Mind staff members.

By the end of the six sessions, our hope is that you will feel less isolated and better informed to support your young person, with the confidence to have conversations around mental health, including difficult areas such as self-harm and suicide. You will also have the confidence to seek support at times of crisis.
