CONGRATULATIONS to Eunice Beasley who will reach the grand old age of 100 tomorrow 1st November. Otford seems to have a good number of ladies on the cusp of 100 so look out for them in future editions. Eunice has lead an interesting life and we send her every good wish for the future.

ADVANCE warning to avoid the centre of Otford on Sunday November 10 as St Bartholomew’s church will be holding the annual Remembrance Service at 10am followed by a presentation of flags adjacent to the pond. Traffic may not be halted but will obviously be disrupted and slow moving, so it is better to avoid this area if you simply need to pass through.

SEVENOAKS Shakespeare Society are pleased to announce their Summer 2020 production, directed by Matt Frieacre. Playing as usual at the White Rock Inn, and St Briavel’s. The Kentish dates will be June 26/7/8 June and July 2/3/4/5 2020. The St Briavels Dates July 11/12 July 2020. The Winter’s Tale is Shakespeare’s ninth longest play: his 35th play overall. It was originally considered his thirteenth-ish comedy, then his fourth-ish ‘problem play’, and is now considered his third-ish ‘Late Romance’. It might be easier just to think of it as his penultimate play. Except that’s not quite true either. Not only because he wrote four or five others after that with John Fletcher, but also because it’s not ‘a’ play. What it is, is two plays. Visit www.sevenoaksshakespeare.org
