At half-term Otford Library is holding a Reading Fair Book Time event at 10.30am on Thursday October 26 for children aged 4 to 7 at a cost of £3. There is no charge for adults and younger children accompanying the child. The children can enjoy an interactive story telling session based on the theme of the book. They join in the performance story based on ‘We’re going on a Bear Hunt’ and finish off by creating their own Bumble Bear. The story takes them on an imaginary walk around a farm, which includes animal puppets, bubbles, water spray, ribbons, and a chance for them to practice animal farm noises. To book ring 03000 413131 or email otfordlibrary@kent.go.uk.

OTFORD.Net has a new owner. Graham White www.EasyPC-Otford.co.uk, with over 15 years’ experience providing excellent computer support services to local businesses, schools and home users, has taken over from John Hubbard as he is leaving the area to be closer to family and grandchildren. John started Otford.Net about 15 years ago and is really pleased to have found another local person to take the business forward and provide continuity to everyone. Nothing effectively changes for clients and those with just a mailbox, or with domains and hosting accounts will continue as usual. Grahams contact details are 07960 841811, info@otford.net, 101 Evelyn Road, Otford TN14 5PU.
John deserves our thanks for all the hard work and effort he has put in over the years and for his support to me, local residents and the Parish Council which is appreciated by us all and we wish him health, wealth and happiness in his new life.

AN Art Group Show and Sale is being held by Otford Art Group 10.30am and 3.00pm on Saturday in the Memorial Hall displaying and selling original paintings, prints, and cards. There will also be a number of craft stalls and a local woodturner will be selling his wares. Entry is free and refreshments will be available. The group encourage you to go along and perhaps make this event the one where you start your Christmas shopping.

IF you would like to get involved with developing an Otford Neighbourhood Plan which would give the community direct power to produce a shared vision for their neighbourhood and shape the development and growth of their local area then the Parish Council would like to hear from you. A Neighbourhood Plan would allow the village to choose where they want new homes, shops and offices to be built, have their say on what those new buildings should look like and what infrastructure should be provided, and grant planning permission for the new buildings they want to go ahead. Producing a Neighbourhood Plan is a massive undertaking which will need the help and support of all residents. Once the Planning Committee have determined what needs to be done they will be calling for volunteers who can contribute to the process. You can find out more about neighbourhood planning at https://www.gov.uk/guidance/neighbourhood-planning -2. There is access to the Internet at Otford Library. If you would like to support your village please contact the Parish Office 01959 524808 to register your interest.

OTFORD Parish Council is seeking a volunteer to deliver their Newsletter in Station Road and Beckets Place. This only takes about an hour 10 times a year. If you are willing to undertake this please contact the Parish Office 01959 524808 between 8.30 and 12.30 or email clerk@otfordpc.co.uk.

HOSPICES of Hope would like to know if you have ever considered offering to help out at their High Street charity shop for a few hours a week? There are various areas you could get involved in such as serving in the tearoom or sorting donations and working the till in the shop. If you feel you could help in any way please phone general manager Julie 01959 524322.
