New voice for the over 50s Sevenoaks District Seniors Action Forum (SDSAF) will hold its launch and first AGM on Friday 1 October, in the Plaza room of the Stag in Sevenoaks, from 3.30-5pm. The Forum will represent the concerns of those aged 50+ with the providers of services and facilities they care about, and campaign for improvements. Exploratory meetings this spring in Swanley, Edenbridge and Sevenoaks identified a lot of interest, and an initial list of issues (quite a few!) about which older people are concerned, such as transport, health, shops, local facilities, the environment. Anyone aged 50 or above anywhere in our District – from Edenbridge to Hartley, Hextable to Leigh and all towns and villages between – is welcome to join (no cost). An interim committee of volunteers has been doing preparatory work, but anyone can put herself or himself forward to serve on the substantive committee to be appointed at the AGM. No need to book, just come along on 1 October It is International Day of the Older Person, and Age UK Sevenoaks will be running a programme in the Plaza room throughout the day, so you could catch some of that too. Refreshments available. Parking adjacent and nearby (all pay+display). Have mobility problems and need help with transport? Contact Merilyn in Sevenoaks 01732 461397 or Peter in Swanley 01322 663076.
