New Modern Look for Otford Post Office, with Longer Opening Hours

    NEW MODERN LOOK FOR OTFORD POST OFFICE, WITH LONGER OPENING HOURS

    •Modern open-plan retail environment
    •Extended opening hours to include Saturday afternoon
    •Wide range of Post Office® services available

    The Post Office is modernising Otford Post Office, 6 Sevenoaks Road, Otford, Sevenoaks, TN14 5PB, into a new style open-plan branch.

    As part of Post Office plans to modernise the network Otford Post Office will two open-plan counter positions.

    Otford Post Office will close for refurbishment on Wednesday 5 June at 13:00 and the new-look Post Office opens on Friday 7 June at 09:00.

    During this period of refurbishment the nearest Post Offices are:

    • Dynes Road Kemsing Post Office, 8 The Parade, Dynes Road, Kemsing, Sevenoaks, TN15 6RE

    • St Johns Hill Post Office, 44 – 46 Seal Road, Sevenoaks, TN14 5AR

    The new opening hours are: Monday to Saturday: 09.00 - 17.30; This is an extra five hours a week as the Post Office now opens on Saturday afternoon.

    Otford Post Office, which has undergone a refurbishment, has an official opening ceremony performed by Rt Hon Michael Fallon today, Friday 28 June at 12:30 p.m.

    To celebrate the launch of the new style branch, new operators John and Claire Heureman will be joined by Rt Hon Michael Fallon, Business Minister and MP for Sevenoaks who will cut the ribbon at Otford Post Office, 6 Sevenoaks Road, Otford, TN14 5NB.

    John and Claire Heureman, who are well-known in the Sevenoaks area, already own the nearby John Heureman Tennis Academy at Hollybush and are organising the Family Music Festival at Fawkham, Kent in July.

    The refurbishment of Otford Post Office is part of a major modernisation programme across the Post Office network designed to make it easier for customers to do business, through longer opening hours and modern open plan environments.

    Michael Fallon, Business Minister and MP for Sevenoaks, said:

    The community-minded couple enthusiastically took on the business opportunity to run Otford Post Office when the business was put up for sale. It is ideally located three doors away from their Racquet Academy shop in the same parade, which sells tennis and squash merchandise.

    Mr Heureman, set up one of the country’s first tennis academies 20 years ago. His wife Claire has worked in the financial banking industry for more than two decades.

    Otford Post Office has two open plan serving positions. The new opening hours are Monday to Saturday: 09.00 – 17.30. This is an extra five hours a week as the Post Office is now open on a Saturday afternoon.

    Post Office Chief Executive Paula Vennells is attending the official opening as she is keen to visit Post Offices that have been switched to the new-style operating models and wants to meet some of the entrepreneurial subpostmasters who will help to take our business forward.
