Dstl’s departure from Fort Halstead delayed

  1. Sevenoaks District Council has been informed by Dstl that the company’s planned move from Fort Halstead to Porton Down has been delayed by at least 12 months.

    Dstl’s departure from the Fort will now be in late 2017 rather than late 2016 as originally planned.

    At present, Dstl employs around 1,000 people at the facility, many of them highly-skilled.

    The Council, which is in close contact with Dstl, has been informed that there are considerable challenges in relocating the unique and complex facilities. Due to the nature of its work, there has been a delay at the design phase of the new facilities in Porton Down.
