Crockenhill & Well Hill / Cowden & Hever District by-elections

  1. Local residents will have the opportunity to elect two new faces to Sevenoaks District Council on Thursday 29 March 2012.

    The Crockenhill & Well Hill Ward by-election is to take place following the death of Cllr Colin Dibsdall in November 2011. Voting will take place at Crockenhill Village Hall and at Well Hill Mission Church.

    The by-election in Cowden & Hever Ward is being held after the resignation of Cllr Gerry Ryan in January of this year. Voting will take place at Cowden Memorial Hall, Four Elms Village Hall and at Hever Village Hall.

    District Councillors make decisions everyday on behalf of their community. By voting residents can make their voices heard on issues that concern them and the area they live.

    The deadline to apply for a postal vote is 5pm, 14 March 2012 and the proxy vote application deadline is 5pm, 21 March 2012.

    Only the names of the people included on the register of electors can vote in elections. The deadline for registering to vote for these by-elections is 14 March 2012.

  2. The candidates nominated to stand for election in the Crockenhill & Well Hill and the Cowden & Hever District by-elections have been released.

    Three people have put their names forward for the Crockenhill & Well Hill ward by-election. They are, Adrian Crossley for the Conservative Party, Jenny Dibsdall for the Labour Party and Christopher Heath for the UK Independence Party.

    In the Cowden and Hever ward two people are standing. They are, Lorraine Millgate for the UK Independence Party and Christopher John Neal for the Conservative Party.

    Both by-elections are to be held on 29 March 2012.

  3. Following yesterday's by-election for Crockenhill & Well Hill Ward, Jenny Dibsdall (Labour) was elected to Sevenoaks District Council.

    The results were:

    Adrian Crossley - Conservative - 177
    Jenny Dibsdall - Labour - 304 votes ELECTED
    Christopher Heath – UK Independence - 40 votes

    Turn out for the election was 34.52%.

    The election came about following the death of Cllr Colin Dibsdall.

    For the Cowden & Hever Ward, Chris Neal (Conservative) was elected to Sevenoaks District Council.

    The results were:

    Lorraine Millgate – UK Independence - 81 votes
    Chris Neal - Conservative – 296 ELECTED

    Turn out for the election was 24.24%.

    The election came about following the resignation of Cllr Gerry Ryan due to ill health.
