Detectives in west Kent are appealing for information following an attempted robbery outside the Rose and Crown Public House, Otford Lane, Halstead on Monday 7 February around 1pm.
During the incident a black Ford Focus car pulled up as a man walked from the pub to his car parked nearby. Two young white men, aged about 20, got out of the Focus. They approached the man and demanded money but he refused. They then pushed him over but ran back to the car and drove off when people came out of the pub.
The victim, 65, suffered injuries including cuts, grazes and bruises. His eyes were also affected as the men sprayed him with a noxious substance from a small container during the incident. It is thought the substance may have been CS spray and therefore the two young men would still have the distinctive peppery smell on them for some time after the incident.
    Description of the offenders
The men are said to be in their 20s and white. One wore a light blue hoody, the other white and grey hoody and both had their faces covered.
Officers would like to speak to anyone who may have seen the X registration black Ford Focus in the area around the time of the incident. The car arrived at the pub from the Polhill direction and left heading towards Halstead village.
